Advertising for the rural market !

Airtel and Vodafone both together were the first to launch iPhone in India. It was so called iconic relevation in Indian cellphone arena on Aug 22, 2008.

It is here on the wall of house in a village in West Bengal that they both advertise together to capture the rural market. Though the myth was that rural India is not brand conscious, which is no longer true and with many options available, it is buying more brands. More than 300 million people use mobile phone in India out of 3.3 billion worldwide. Out of these 300 million, 62 million can be found in rural India. It is projected that the the Indian market would double by 2012, maximum expansion will happen in rural India. With Airtel and Nokia being major player in rural market, how come Vodafone be left behind !
