Kash Phool is here !

Kash Phool is here, meaning Puja's are around the corner in West Bengal. If you travel now across the State of West Bengal one can site, whiteness of kans grass spread over empty fields. Kans grass or Saccharum spontaneum, as called technically, is a perennial grass, which grows up to three meters in height, and has spreading rhizomatous roots. As per wikipedia Kans grass quickly colonises exposed silt plains created each year by the retreating monsoon floods, forming almost pure stands on the lowest portions of the floodplain. Kans grasslands are an important habitat for the Indian Rhinoceros (Rhinoceros unicornis).
