Mobiles in Kolkata to have number portability

Mobile users in Kolkata would have the facility to shift their service provider without changing their present number. A private company had received the license to implement the same by Sept 20,2009. In the license given, in first phase they would implement the service in four circles of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kolkata. The second phase which would take place next year in the remaining seven circles, including West Bengal and other states of the eastern region would be included.
