Students crossing Matla river on a boat, as they return from college in South 24 Parganas. South 24 Parganas is an important district of West Bengal State with its district headquarters in Alipore Kolkata. It has the urban fringe of Kolkata on one side and the remote riverine villages in the Sundarbans.
The river shown in the picture is flood prone and boat is not only overloaded but neither has any life saving equipment like life jackets on boat.... a point to ponder ?
